Paperless Plan Submittal
Introducing ePlans, Santa Clarita’s Online Development Application System:
ePlans is an easy-to-use internet-based application for electronic plan submittal, review, correspondence, and approval. It offers an alternative to working with printed plans during the plan check process.
How will the system benefit customers?

ePlans will eliminate the time and money spent printing and delivering paper plans. ePlans was designed for users with little to no computer experience and offers step by step instructions.
When will ePlans be available?
Implementation of ePlans is scheduled for the Spring of 2010.
How does ePlans work?
When a permit application is accepted, ePlans creates a unique and secure project website. Project participants are invited to the project which can then be accessed wherever the internet is available. Drawings are uploaded directly through a web browser. Once the plan review has been completed, comments are made available on the site. Plans are approved electronically by the City and other applicable agencies.
What other agencies will be using ePlans?
The City of Santa Clarita is seeking the cooperation of all City & County agencies which are part of the entitlement and/or permit process.
Are there any fees associated with using ePlans?
No. ePlans is a free service provided by the City of Santa Clarita.
Will I need to access ePlans regularly to check the status of my project?
No. ePlans automatically sends out e-mail notifications at each step of the plan check process.
Is ePlans secure?
Yes. A password protected login is required to access each project within ePlans.
Do I need any special hardware or software to use ePlans?
No. A standard web browser and Internet access are all that is needed to use ePlans. High speed internet is recommended.
Can I submit a permit application or schedule an inspection using ePlans?
The City is currently exploring options to accept permit applications and application fees electronically. Inspection requests will still be processed as usual.
After permit plans are approved how will the citizen access them?
After the permit plans have been approved, all markups are burned into the drawing and the drawings are saved as PDF files. The citizen can then print their permit plan set over the web or download them for distribution to the general contractor and bidders.
